Our First Day at Horstead (2025)

It was a soggy start to our Horstead trip this year! We arrived and went for a walk by the river. It was too wet to have our usual picnic lunch so we went back to the Centre to have our packed lunches. After finding out where our bedrooms were and doing some unpacking, we got ready for our first activity – archery, crate-stacking or low ropes and caving. Even though it was raining, this didn’t dampen our moods and we had lots of fun!
Dinner tonight was pasta Bolognese with salad and garlic bread, and chocolate cake with custard for dessert – there were lots of clean plates by the end!
Our evening activity was the Horstead Quiz, where we worked in teams to have a go at answering questions about lots of different topics.
Here are some of the children’s thoughts on today:
Harry – crate stacking was so fun; I liked pulling the ropes for everyone.
Harriet – I loved today! I liked going in the cave because it felt like it was real.
Olivia – the food has been my favourite part, especially the chocolate cake!
